It presents field-expedient latrines, urinals, wash and shower stations, shave stations, and expedient water source development. It also addresses environmental considerations, general safety practices, and compliance with applicable requirements.
Applies to: This publication applies to the Regular Air Force, the Air Force Reserve, and the Air National Guard.
The expedient methods presented may be applicable during wartime or overseas contingency operations and force beddown in remote or austere locations with shortages of hygiene, water, and waste facilities or standard construction materials.
Some expedient methods may be an option when immediate action is necessary to restore service following a hostile attack or disaster.
The information in this publication does not supersede any legal requirements (domestic US law for operations in the US and for operations outside the US: US law with extraterritorial application, applicable international agreement requirement, or combatant command directive) that specify how tasks should be performed.
In accordance with AFI 10-210, Prime BEEF contingency activities comply with environmental provisions of all applicable international agreements and requirements in Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 4715.22; Environmental Management Policy for Contingency Locations, DoDI 4715.19, Use of Open Air Burn Pits in Contingency Operations; applicable combatant command directives and operation plans, operation orders, fragmentary orders, or similar operational directives for specific contingency operations (e.g., Annex L, Environmental Considerations to the Combatant Command Operation Plan); and relevant Lead Service policy (e.g., location specific environmental management plans).
Ensure all records generated as a result of processes prescribed in this publication adhere to AFI 33322, Records Management and Information Governance Program and are disposed in accordance with the Air Force Records Disposition Schedule, which is located in the Air Force Records Information Management System.
