Applies to: This instruction applies to the HQ AFRC staff, AFRC Numbered Air Force (NAF), and AFRC units.
A member is entitled to a maximum of 36 months of benefits in any one program or 48 months in a combination of two programs for full-time or equivalent study. (paragraph 1)
MGIB-SR benefits are based on enrollment in a program of education approved by the VA for MGIB-SR participation. (paragraph 1)
To be eligible for educational assistance under the expanded benefits program (e.g., multiple baccalaureate degrees, flight training, vocational/technical training), enlistment, reenlistment, extension, or agreement to serve must be initiated on or after 1 October 1990. (paragraph 1)
All Chapter 1606 benefits are paid directly to the member while in Selected Reserve status, and cease upon separation. (paragraph 1)
Individuals must, on or after 1 July 1985, enlist, reenlist or extend an enlistment in the Selected Reserve for a period of not less than six years or, in the case of officers, agree to serve in the Selected Reserve for six years besides any other period of obligated service. (paragraph 1)
