AFMD13 describes AFDW support to joint headquarters, task forces, the Space Staff, and Air Force personnel. It assigns duties for operations, information technology, medical, legal, personnel, and administrative support.
AFDW is a direct reporting unit to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force (CSAF) and is responsible for the administration, organization, training, and readiness of assigned forces. (paragraph 2)
AFDW responds to the CSAF and the Chief of Space Operations (CSO) for certain administrative and support functions, as applicable. (paragraph 2)
AFDW acts as the Air Force Service component to JTF-NCR and provides contingency support. (paragraph 2)
Provides combat ready forces in support of combatant commanders and Presidential directives. (paragraph 3)
Plans and coordinates Air Force support in the NCR for homeland defense, defense support to civil authorities, NSSEs, SEARs, and designated special or ceremonial events. (paragraph 3)
