The publication addresses aircrew flight equipment, aircraft support equipment, litter and patient support systems, and aircraft configurations. It includes requirements for equipment stowage, loading, and SLS assembly, including a prohibition on hand tools.
Applies to: It applies to individuals at all levels who are involved with Aeromedical Evacuation operations, including the Air Force Reserve (AFR) and Air National Guard (ANG), except where noted otherwise.
Each SLS will provide three litter positions for a total of three litter patients. (paragraph 1)
The Air Transportable Galley Lavatory (ATGL) cannot be used if an SLS is placed in FS 487- 560. (paragraph 2)
When AE patients are on board, cargo loaded on the ramp is restricted to two pallets in the Aerial Delivery System rail system, and floor loaded cargo is positioned so it does not restrict evacuation routes. (paragraph 6)
WARNING: AECM’s will wear flight gloves during SLS assembly. (paragraph 7)
Hand Tools should never be used to install or remove an SLS or any of the included sub-components. (paragraph 7)
