It provides guidance for managing 91(b) radioactive material from current operations, legacy maintenance, accidents, incidents, and reactors. It requires routine or planned personnel exposure to remain as low as reasonably achievable and includes monitoring for tritium releases during certain maintenance activities.
Nuclear-capable units, as defined by unit Designed Operational Capability (DOC) Statement, including units with a contingency or limited nuclear mission, must comply with the ALARA concept. (paragraph 91-110)
Host installations that support nuclear-capable tenants or geographically separated units (GSUs) must comply with this instruction. (paragraph 91-110)
