It addresses exempt materials, installation written programs, hazard determination, and Material Safety Data Sheets. It requires initial and supplemental HAZCOM training for employees and assigns primary training and worker-awareness responsibility to work area or shop supervisors.
All employees will receive training upon initial assignment and supplemental training as required.
Employee training consists of comprehensive AF HAZCOM training conducted upon initial assignment, and supplemental training made necessary when a new chemical hazard or exposure have been introduced into the work area/shop.
Changes include placing primary responsibility for hazard communication (HAZCOM) training and worker awareness on the work area/shop supervisor, and clarification of supporting training and technical consultation roles.
Major Commands (MAJCOMs) shall not waive any of the specific requirements of this AFI.
MAJCOMs may supplement this AFI when additional or more stringent safety and health criteria are required.
