Applies to: It applies to all Air Force organizations excluding Pacific Air Forces, United States Air Forces in Europe, Air Force Reserve Command, and Air National Guard.
The Air Force S&T Program consists of Basic Research, Applied Research, and Advanced Technology Development (research, development, test and evaluation [RDT&E] budget activity categories 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3, respectively).
The Air Force plans and executes its S&T Program in accordance with the approved Air Force S&T Strategy and the associated Air Force S&T Plan as influenced by both external and internal “drivers” [contact SAF/AQR for access to the latest versions of these documents].
Supplements to this instruction must be coordinated through the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force, Science, Technology and Engineering (SAF/AQR).
Ensure that all records created as a result of processes prescribed in this publication are maintained in accordance with Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 33-363, Management of Records, and disposed of in accordance with the Air Force Records Disposition Schedule located in the Air Force Records Information Management System.
Core Function Lead Integrators (CFLI) inform Air Force S&T investment through their Core Function Master Plan(s) (CFMP).
