AFI51-506 addresses gifts from domestic and foreign sources, including gifts to the USAFA, individual Air Force members, and Air Force employees. It establishes mandatory procedures for gift acceptance and covers travel benefits, donor identification, and foreign government gifts.
Applies to: This instruction applies to all Air Force activities, uniformed members and employees in the Regular Air Force, Air Force Reserve (AFR), and Air National Guard (ANG) units.
A copy of this memorandum and attachments shall be retained by the recipient of the travel benefits and a copy will be forwarded to the traveler’s servicing legal office, along with a completed form SF 326 as appropriate. (paragraph 4)
Failure to observe the prohibitions and mandatory provisions in paragraph 9.4 of this publication by military members is a violation of Article 92 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).
Violations may result in administrative disciplinary action without regard to otherwise applicable criminal or civil sanctions for violations of related laws.
Note: This option is not available to recipients when the gift item is a firearm. (paragraph 2)
