Can Reserve Medical Unit physicians serve as EMS Medical Director or Competent Medical Physician?

Due to limited scope of ARC/Unit Training Assembly (UTA) privileges, Reserve Medical Unit (RMU) physicians cannot provide oversight as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Medical Director or Competent Medical Physician (CMP) IAW AFI44-102 section 2.20.6.4. and 2.20.7.

Who should serve as the EMS Medical Director at a non-collocated base?

As the EMS medical director provides direct oversight of care, an RMU provider cannot act as the EMS medical director. Therefore, the appointed EMS Medical Director should be the Medical Director or EMS Director of the facility that receives patients from the installation.

What coordination is required before finalizing an MOU, MOA, or contract?

Prior to finalizing MOU/MOA/contract, route and coordinate for JA, A4OE and AFRC/SG concurrence and approval. (paragraph 44-102)

What must the Installation Fire Chief establish for community partnerships?

IFC will establish community partnerships through written mutual aid agreements which meet the standard level of care and response time standards set forth in DoDI 6055.06, DoD 6055.06-M, DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program and AFI 322001, Fire Emergency Services (FES) Program and, if supportable with available assets, those standards in the community or region in which the installation resides IAW AFI 44-102.
