Questions and answers

How quickly must a casualty be reported to the Air Force Personnel Center?

Contact the CAR to ensure they are aware of the casualty and can report it to Air Force Personnel Center (AFPC) Casualty Services Office within the required 4 hours from notification of a casualty.

How often must medical progress reports be provided for VSI and SI members?

The MTF must provide status of the member’s condition every 24 hours following the initial report and 14 calendar days after the supplemental casualty report on VSI and SI members.

Who must approve Emergency Family Member Travel for a VSI or SI active duty member?

Requesting EFMT for NOK of a VSI/SI active duty member must be approved by the attending physician or surgeon and the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) Commander or head of the MTF.

How many family members are authorized for Emergency Family Member Travel?

Three family members are authorized for up to 30 days.

Who may contact the next of kin about organ or tissue donations?

Ensures only medical personnel contact the NOK concerning organ or tissue donations.
