Compliance with this memorandum is mandatory.
The initial cadre of warrant officers will serve in the Warfighter Communications & Information Technology Systems Operations (17W) and Cyber Effects & Warfare Operations (17Y) career fields to maintain technical leadership in these specialties with highly perishable skills. (paragraph 2)
Appointments in the grade of warrant officer 1, W-1, shall be made by warrant. (paragraph 2)
WO applicants must be medically qualified or have an approved medical waiver in accordance with DAFMAN 48-123, Medical Examination and Standards. (paragraph 4)
All applicants must meet the fitness requirements of DAFMAN 36-2905, Department of the Air Force Physical Fitness Program, to include height and weight standards as prescribed in DoDI 1308.03, DoD Physical Fitness/Body Composition Program. (paragraph 4)
