The publication covers general information, evaluation requirements, pilot and instructor pilot evaluations, instrument evaluations, and evaluation criteria. It requires flight examiners to use prescribed criteria, brief and debrief examinees, and complete specified instructor qualification requirements.
Applies to: This publication applies to all uniformed members of the Regular Air Force and Air Force Reserve, and to federal civilian employees assigned or attached to AETC for flying the T-41, T-51 and T-53.
Flight examiners will use the evaluation criteria contained in this instruction for conducting flight and emergency procedure evaluations.
The examinee will fly in the seat that best enables the FE to conduct a thorough evaluation.
Prior to the flight, the FE will brief the examinee on the purpose and conduct of the evaluation.
Debriefs will include the examinee’s overall rating, specific deviations, area grades assigned (if other than qualified), and any required additional training.
To initially qualify as an instructor, a pilot must successfully complete training in accordance with AETC Manual (AETCMAN) 11-2T-41-51-53, Volume 1, T-41, T-51 and T-53 Aircrew Training, and a dedicated initial instructor evaluation.
