What must happen when a UII is assigned to an item?
When a unique item identifier (UII) is assigned to an item, that UII and supporting pedigree data must be registered in the DoD IUID registry. (paragraph 1-45)
What happens to a UII if an item's marking is removed?
The initial UII will remain with the item during the entire life cycle. In the event the marking is removed, the same UII is to be recreated for the item. (paragraph 1-45)
What must be done for an identified component embedded in an item?
The MATDEV and acquiring activities will ensure that for any uniquely identified subassembly, component, or part embedded within an item, the immediate parent item that contains the embedded subassembly, component, or part will also be uniquely identified. (paragraph 1-45)
What marking is required on packaging containing an item with a UII?
Each unit pack, container, or palletized unit load that contains an item with an UII must be appropriately marked in accordance with MIL STD 129. (paragraph 2)
What happens if a contract omits the required DFARS IUID clause?
A contract that is released without including DFARS Clause 252.211 7003, when required, is in violation of the DFARS. (paragraph 3-1)
