It covers MAR2 and Disability Evaluation System timelines, medical evaluation board and physical evaluation board procedures, appeals, and separation processes. It specifies packet contents, counseling, decision, notification, and adjudication requirements.
Timelines for the military occupational specialty (MOS) Administrative Retention Review (MAR2) process are in terms of business days. (Note that timelines for the Disability Evaluation System (DES) are in terms of calendar days unless otherwise specified.) (paragraph 2-1)
Failure to receive a Soldiers statement or a unit commanders statement within the required timelines will not delay the processing of the Soldiers case. (paragraph 2-1)
The MAR2 process must be completed within 28 days after the battalion commander receives the profile, unless the commander extends the time for reasons listed in paragraph 22b. (paragraph 2-2)
Unit commanders ensure the MAR2 packet is prepared and submitted to the State G1 within 45 days of receiving the Soldiers P3/P4 profile. (paragraph 2-3)
Counseling is documented on DA Form 4856 (Developmental Counseling Form). (paragraph 2-7)
