The publication establishes AFT events and combat and general standards, including requirements for record testing, profiles, training, promotions, and reclassification. It sets different testing schedules for active-duty and Reserve Component Soldiers and establishes implementation responsibilities and duration.
Applies to: This directive applies to the Regular Army as well as the Army National Guard/Army National Guard of the United States and U.S. Army Reserve (collectively, the Reserve components).
The AFT comprises five events: max dead lift, hand-release push-up, sprint/drag/carry, plank, and 2-mile run. (paragraph 4)
The AFT replaces the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) on 1 June 2025. (paragraph 4)
Soldiers serving in combat specialties must achieve a minimum of 60 points per event and an overall minimum score of 350. (paragraph 4)
Pass two record AFTs per calendar year, with no less than 4 months between passing record tests.
Pass the AFT once per calendar year for record, with no less than 8 months between passing record tests.
