All Soldiers will comply with hair, fingernail, and grooming policies while in any military uniform, or in civilian clothes on duty. (paragraph 3-2)

Violation of the specific prohibitions and requirements set forth in this chapter may result in adverse administrative action and/or charges under the provisions of the UCMJ. (paragraph 3-16)
What heraldic items are prohibited from unauthorized wear?
Wearing of any HQDA-prescribed decoration, service medal, badge, service ribbon, lapel button, or insignia by persons not authorized to do so, or the use of such items to defraud or misrepresent their identification or status, is prohibited. (paragraph 3-14)
When is wearing awards prohibited under AR 670-1?
Wearing awards is prohibited in the following circumstances: a. On any uniform other than those authorized in this regulation. (See 18 USC 704 for the penalty for unauthorized wear of the uniform.) b. When serving a sentence of confinement. c. When wearing civilian clothing, except for civilian awards, lapel buttons, or rosettes intended for wear with civilian clothing. (paragraph 22-3)
