When may commanders authorize Family members to accompany or join a military sponsor overseas at government expense?
In accordance with the JTR, commanders may authorize Family members to accompany or join their military sponsor overseas at government expense when the sponsor fulfills the requirements listed in paragraph 4 2. (paragraph 3-1)
Can Family members without transportation entitlement travel overseas on a space-required or space-available basis?
Family members not entitled to transportation at government expense will not travel to the overseas location on a space-required or space-available basis. (paragraph 7-5)
When may a Soldier escort a Family member under unusual or emergency circumstances?
When a Family member is authorized transportation per the JTR (for example, advance return of dependents), the sole-parent Soldier or one parent of a dual military couple, but not another person, may travel as an escort to the authorized destination of the Family member (who is not over 18 years of age, unless medically unable to travel alone) and return to the PDS (see the JTR). (paragraph 2)
What happens if AMC or MSC transportation is unavailable for escort travel?
If not available, the ITO will issue a statement of nonavailability of AMC transportation to the Soldier prior to arranging commercial transportation. (paragraph 2)
Are Cadets eligible for emergency leave transportation?
Cadets are not eligible for emergency leave transportation.
