The publication addresses cemetery eligibility, interments, disinterments, remains storage, markers, monuments, grounds, records, historic preservation, planning, risk management, and inspections. It establishes requirements for burial records, personal identification information, cemetery operations, maintenance, and oversight.
Applies to: This regulation is applicable to all cemeteries for which the Army is responsible.
Military personnel who violate any of the punitive sections may be subject to punishment under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. (paragraph 2-4)
Army cemeteries will not store casketed remains prior to burial. (paragraph 7-76)
All Army cemeteries must maintain the capability to temporarily store cremated remains, either on-site at the cemetery, off-site elsewhere on the installation, or through a local funeral home. (paragraph 7-76)
Disinterment and removal of remains from ANMC and Army post cemeteries at no expense to the Government are permitted with the prior approval of the Executive Director, ANMC. (paragraph 5)
Pets will not be buried, inurned, or scattered on Army property except in those pet cemeteries already established. (paragraph 3-13)
